Night life in Genoa is centered in the so-called Centro Storico. The oldest part of town, whose foundation goes back to the Middle Ages, Centro Storico provides a fascinating backdrop against which a soundscape embracing the newest musical tendencies greets visitors and residents with its magic, evocative notes.
Piazza delle Erbe, Salita Pollaiuoli, Via San Bernardo and many other such streets and alleys are the core of the local movida. In their cosy bars and venues people of all ages mix together enjoying the typical specialties of the Mediterranean cuisine or just sipping a drink and nibbling something in a most friendly and picturesque atmosphere always pleasantly pervaded by music. Special programs are on over the week-end, but during the whole week one can find something interesting and new to do, watch, listen or dance to.
Never forget, though, that Genoa is a port city lying on one of the most beautiful sites of the Mediterranean Riviera. Hence a walk along the sea, across Corso Italia, at a walking distance from the Centro Storico, or in nearby Nervi, a few minutes drive from downtown, is definitely worthy of your attention. There too bars, lounges, venues offer a wide set of food, drinks, and live music along with spectacular natural views.
Last but hardly the least, in the first fortnight of September a new public event has lately crystallized the attention of the city and its people. This is the White Night, a special event to be held during a week-end during which the whole Centro Storico bursts with cultural and social initiatives, museums are open all night, food, music, and culture offer themselves in all their beauty to the people of the city.
In a word, this is a most lively city, full of energy, people, life, all day long. Come and see for yourself!
